Les Gets
When, twenty years ago, we started looking for a resort which would be ideally suited to the needs of families, Les Gets shone out.
The picturesque village of Les Gets is about as far from a purpose built resort as you can get. Real people live in Les Gets all year round, the land is still farmed and you can wander round the weekly market every Thursday to purchase everything from the latest fashions for mountain folk (think 1950's Eastern Block chic) to alarmingly smelly cheeses. More sophisticated retail opportunities also abound!
Many Ski Famille guests have been sucked in by the charms of Les Gets over the years and we often bump into familiar faces who keep on coming back long after their families have outgrown the Ski Famille service.
Most buildings conform to the "chocolate box" vision of an Alpine village but you also have access to all of the modern facilities you would expect to find in a bustling modern ski resort.
Nightlife is not the reason that people choose Les Gets, but there are plenty of relaxed bars for an aprés ski beer or two. Restaurants serving traditional Savoyard food dominate the options for eating out, but there are choices covering everything from a quick pizza to fine dining.
Les Gets is about more than skiing, eating and drinking (although you can of course restrict yourself to these without a problem!). There are numerous events taking place in the resort throughout the season alongside activities such as dog sledding, paragliding and hot air ballooning.
