On the 8th – 11th December 2015, our new fleet office staff members went out to visit all the Ski Famille chalets in Les Gets, La Plagne and Reberty 2000.

As relatively new employees to the company, this was our first opportunity to experience first-hand what a Ski Famille holiday entails. Our visit to the Alps provided us with the chance to tour all of the chalets and see exactly what we were marketing and selling to our guests – a business trip that our friends were more than a bit envious of! It really was a whistle stop tour of the three resorts and 13 chalets, but each and every one made an impression.

Les Gets was our first stop and we were blown away by how much it had to offer (especially as we were visiting before the beginning of the season!). Ice skating, restaurants, bars, bowling, shops and beautiful scenery – we immediately understood why this family friendly resort is at the heart of the Ski Famille brand!  As we toured around the village, we realised the extent to which each chalet had its own individual style and perks – all completely unique, but each just as lovely as the next! Throughout the tour, each chalet became our new ‘favourite’ and we really began to understand how the different chalets would suit different types of guest, and family make-ups.

After a long day we were glad to make it to Chalet Marjorie, where we would be staying that night. We were first introduced to the chalet team, Joe, Rachel and Chef Ben, who made us feel incredibly welcome and as though nothing was too much trouble. Before we knew it, it was time for dinner, where we sampled the Chicken with Mountain Morels served with side of buttered leeks – and we all agreed that it was incredible! We could clearly see that Ben, the chalet chef, took real pride in his cooking, and Rachel and Joe were exceptionally attentive – it really was a meal to remember.

Day two saw us travel from Les Gets to La Plagne, a gorgeous old mining village, in the Paradiski ski area where we visited Chalets Delphine and Nicole. Both were equally stunning, and whilst quite different in their styles we all agreed that they both had such character and charm. We were staying in Nicole that night and were greeted by the La Plagne resort team who, again, made us feel extremely welcome as we were offered hot drinks and a freshly baked Banana cake – which was gratefully received after our long drive! By this point we were really starting to settle in to the Ski Famille holiday way of life and as we relaxed in on the big comfortable sofas next to the roaring fire whilst the snow fell outside, we began to understand what made a Ski Famille holiday so special.

Dinner that evening was something we had all been looking forward to since the day Managing Director, Chris had told us about the visit – Raclette! And it didn’t disappoint! The homely feel and true nature of a Ski Famille holiday really became apparent during this evening, with the entire La Plagne resort team and the Fleet office team sitting down and enjoying a meal together- we really did feel like one big Ski Famille family!

Our third, and final, day was spent making the short transfer from La Plagne to Reberty 2000 to visit chalets Katie 1 & 2 andEva. Again we were blown away by how quaint and pretty the little Alpine village of Reberty was, with the slopes just a minutes’ walk away from the chalets – a perfect family holiday environment! All three chalets offered breath-taking views across the mountains and as we checked out the new refurbishments in Chalet Eva ready for the 2015/16 season we could see how the company was always evolving and improving to make our guests holidays even better!

On reflection, our trip to the Alps allowed us to fully understand the Ski Famille product, and what makes it so special and unique. It was great to see the diversity that Ski Famille offers with regards to it’s accommodation and resorts, with each having its own perks and the chalets so clearly defined by their own individual charm. One thing that remained constant however were the chalet staff; and with the fantastic service, top levels of hospitality and the feeling that nothing was too much trouble, it was clear that they are a big part of the reason that our guests keep returning year on year!

Upon returning to the UK, we have all made use of the visit, with the marketing benefiting from a better understanding of the product, and us sales staff, genuinely excited to pick up our first calls to share our experiences with the next people in line for a Ski Famille getaway! One thing that can definitely be said is that we will now also be in that line!
