We are delighted to have been able to help local ski club Aldershot Snowsports for the Disabled (ASD) get the 2016/17 season off to a great start.

At ASD’s September meeting at the Alpine Snowsports Centre in Aldershot the club received their new Ski Famille racing tabards. In keeping with Ski Famille’s family focus there were, of course, sets to cover both adults and children.

ASD do some great work; they help people of all abilities learn to ski or board and members see huge benefits in terms of strength, coordination and confidence. ASD has been enabling disabled people of all ages to experience snowsports at the Aldershot ski slope for over 40 years and were the first of the British Ski Club for the Disabled local clubs. They are now an independent club and they have achieved Community Amateur Sports Club (CASC) status.

As the skiers progress they are encouraged to become more competitive and to take up racing. In the 2015/16 season ten ASD skiers were selected for the Special Olympics GB National Alpine Skiing Competition held in Serre Chevalier. The skiers came back with a good selection of medals and two ASD skiers were selected to represent GB in the 2017 Special Olympics World Winter Games.

We would like to wish ASD the best of luck for the coming season and look forward to attending some of their events. If you would like to find out more about this fantastic local organisation do please visit www.asdaldershot.org.
