Assistant Hotel Manager
Reporting to the Hotel Manager, you will play a key part in developing and monitoring all elements of the delivery of our Chalet Hotel product, developing our staff and maximising profits whilst controlling all costs.
You will oversee all of the hotel’s catering and hospitality teams and ensure that these services are consistently delivered to a high standard to delight all of our guests and ensure that they have a seamless, enjoyable stay.
The role of the Assistant Chalet Hotel Manager is very varied. You will be fully responsible for everything that occurs within the hotel from guest welfare to stock control and maintenance of the hotel, plus managing and motivating your team.
You will also be expected to work closely with the Front of House Manager and Resort and Hotel Childcare Managers to ensure that our product is being delivered consistently through all of our resorts.
We are looking for an energetic, experienced manager with high levels of service and commitment. Using a proactive approach, you will aim to achieve all financial goals set by the company whilst delivering the best customer service.
Assistant Hotel Manager Responsibilities
- Provide an excellent family friendly, carefree holiday to all chalet hotel guests by creating a welcoming, comfortable and maintained environment
- Communicate regularly and tend to the needs of your guests to ensure that they are delighted with their holiday and that their expectations are exceeded. Use their feedback to improve service and offering
- Working with the Guest Services Rep, ensure all guests receive any pre ordered ski extras (ski passes/equipment etc) and drive sales on any local opportunities within this parameter
- Co-ordinate and effectively manage all chalet hotel guest arrivals and departures on transfer day
- In combination with the Hotel Manager, design, create and deliver the hotel staff training course
- Communicate regularly with your teams to build trust, camaraderie and boost morale, ensuring that your teams stay engaged in their work through ongoing reward schemes and manage and maintain staff welfare. (providing feedback, performance reviews and team meetings)
- Complete any training, disciplinary / grievance procedures in accordance with company HR policies and procedures
- Work with your team colleagues to ensure that all chalet hotel operations occur efficiently and to budget
- Work with the Hotel Manager to ensure that all legal aspects of the hotel are covered
- Maintain and develop working relationships with all our key suppliers, eg. chalet hotel owner and ski schools
- Develop a close working relationship with UK colleagues especially Guest Relations and Accounts and respond professionally and promptly to any and all information requests
- In cooperation with the company catering manager, place weekly food, chalet supplies, linen and wine orders, being mindful to careful stock control and management of resources
- Working with your administrator, control all your teams working hours and the legal recording of this

Assistant Hotel Manager Requirements
- Previous experience in high end hospitality delivery with a critical eye for detail
- Full Clean Driving Licence (held for at least 2 years)
- Age 21 or over (age restrictions apply due to the insurance on vehicles)
- Driving experience, ideally of vans or minibuses
- Great self-motivation and organisational skills
- Friendly, flexible, enthusiastic, approachable, and diplomatic
- Able to deliver excellent customer service in all circumstances & to guests of all ages
- An understanding of the differences between adult & child holiday needs
- Experience of managing a young team in a foreign environment
- A proactive problem solver especially when under pressure
- Knowledge of snow sports is advantageous
- A strong experienced team player
- Fluent English plus at least basic French language skills are preferable & would put you ahead of other applicants!
- Availability for the whole season (November until end of April)
- Excellent working knowledge of Google Suite applications plus MS Excel / Word

- Current Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate
- We will conduct DBS checks as well as taking up at least two professional references
