Families might be tempted to think that having a non-skier in the mix rules out a skiing resort as a destination for a winter family holiday. It couldn’t be further from the truth; there are a wide variety of non-skiing activities on offer in all of our resorts; we will ensure that nobody will feel left out at the end of an enjoyable week in the French Alps.

A Ski Famille winter snow holiday can be a true multi activity holiday for all of the family – it doesn’t have to be all about the skiing (even though our chalets are spread across three of the best ski areas in the world!). If the “activity” word doesn’t float your boat at all then fear not, there are few more relaxing environments for a family holiday – simply unwind and soak up the views and mountain ambience.

Our Ski Resorts for Non-Skiers:

Les Gets

Les Gets is a great ski resort for non-skiers as it has a wide array of non-skiing activities on offer for both adults and children including a cinema, 10 pin bowling alley, and over 100 shops, bars and restaurants sourcing local crafts and produce. There is a large outdoor ice rink in the village centre which is open throughout the season or you can take a snowshoeing walk through untouched scenery away from the pistes.

For those who would rather spend their time relaxing, the Marmot Chalet Hotel offers day passes for the public to its on-site spa. With hydrotherapy baths, massages, sensory showers and a heated indoor pool you can while away the hours in relaxation bliss.

La Plagne

From husky pulled sled rides to indoor climbing walls, La Plagne has lots to keep your family entertained off the mountain. The resort is home to the only Olympic bob sleigh, luge and skeleton course in France with a popular method of decent being the bob-aft, a four person bob designed to go no faster than 80km / hr – a real family thrill ride!

For those of you who would rather keep your feet firmly on the ground, La Plagne’s glacial grotto provides a magical family experience with animals and figures intricately carved out in ice – a must visit for skiers and non-skiers alike. La Plagne also has 3 cinemas, a variety of shops and restaurants, and offers you the chance to drive a Piste Basher – a real one off experience!

Reberty-2000 and Les Bruyeres

Les Menuires has seen a lot of investment over the past few years, particularly in terms of its range of non-skiing options. A real highlight is the Roc n Bob toboggan run, a 4km long snow covered slope with a series of bends that is guaranteed family fun, or alternatively have a go on ‘Speed Mountain’, a unique 1000m long toboggan run on rails. Aside from snow based activities, Les Menuires also has an indoor Aqua pool complete with sauna and Jacuzzi and a soft play fun park for the children, as well as a selection of restaurants and cafes to suit any taste. All of these amenities are accessible from our satellite-resorts of Les Bruyeres and Reberty 2000.

Whist the extensive range of activities offered across all three of our resorts is easily enough to keep non-skiers occupied, another option is simply to relax and do nothing. Make the most of the peace and quiet of the mountains and spend your days sipping hot chocolate safe in the knowledge that you don’t have to cook dinner tonight!

Non-Skier? No Problem…

Ski Famille catered chalets are a great option for non-skiers. Many are in, or very close to, the centre of resorts so you are not dependent on shuttle busses to get to and from the shops, bars, restaurants and other attractions. The majority have great views, sunny balconies and a hot tub, steam room or sauna. Our attentive staff will also ensure that those in your party not hitting the slopes are well looked after.
